About Cooler Indoors
Updated

Cooler Indoors puts the numbers about cooling British homes in one place: summer temperatures and heat deaths, the kinds of equipment on sale, running costs at the current price cap, grants and VAT, and the planning, noise, F-gas and electrical rules that apply.
Who runs it
Cooler Indoors is owned by people who also run several businesses in the United States: a plumbing and heating supply house, two water-treatment companies and a plumbing and heating service firm in Pennsylvania. A few chart pages link to them as US examples to compare, always with a note beside the link. They are US businesses serving US customers. The same-owner links page lists every one.
What it is not
Cooler Indoors is not an air-conditioning, heat pump or heating contractor. It does no installs, servicing or repairs, takes no bookings and does not recommend particular installers. For work on a split system you need an F-gas certified engineer; for new electrical circuits, a registered electrician; for anything on a gas boiler, a Gas Safe registered engineer.
How we work
Each chart names its source and the date we checked it, and the methods and sources page explains how we choose, read and update figures. If a figure changes, we change the chart and the date.
